This symposium will have a poster session, which will include both individually submitted posters and activity reports from our field stations.

The posters by individuals are intended to enhance interaction among the researchers who form the front line of the “Integrated Area Studies” of the 21st Century COE Program. Most of the poster presenters are young researchers who have actively engaged in field research in Asia or Africa. All the presenters will give a short talk in the conference hall; in addition they will have a designated time allowing discussion with the audience in front of their posters.

The poster session also includes activity reports from our field stations, located in diverse parts of Asia and Africa, as part of the COE Program (http://areainfo.asafas.kyoto-u.ac.jp/english/activities/act.html). The field stations are bases for intensive on-site education and field research. Moreover, such research involves much collaboration with local research teams and educational institutions, thereby forming a multilateral, multi-center research and education network.

*The deadline for the submission of posters has passed.
